Whitefoord House warmly welcomes Consul of Ukraine

It was our honour and privilege to welcome the Consul of Ukraine in Edinburgh, Mr Andriy Madzyanovsky, to Scottish Veterans Residences (SVR) at Whitefoord House.
Mr Madzyanovsky met with SVR Chief Executive Martin Nadin and Head of External Relations Colin Leslie, and was given a tour of the site and briefing on the work and aims of the charity. He showed a keen interest in how we have supported Veterans from the Armed Forces and Merchant Marine over the years, and the way our services operate.

Reflecting on the visit, Mr Madzyanovsky said: “Scottish Veterans Residences is a unique charity that has been providing housing to veterans for over a century, along with comprehensive support to lead a dignified, stable life.
“This approach reflects the deep respect Scottish society has for those who have defended their country, and the understanding that the responsibility of state and community to veterans is long-term.
“During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation and sharing of experience in the field of supporting veterans, which is of special importance for Ukraine in the face of the ongoing war were discussed. Ukraine today faces the challenge of rehabilitation and social adaptation of hundreds of thousands of veterans, and Scotland’s experience in creating a holistic system of care is hugely valuable.
“The Consulate of Ukraine in Edinburgh sincerely thanks the management and team of Scottish Veterans Residences for a warm reception, openness to partnership and solidarity with Ukrainian veterans.”
We thank Mr Madzyanovsky for his visit and look forward to future dialogue.
