HRH The Duke of Gloucester visits SVR
Residents and staff at Scottish Veterans Residences (SVR) were delighted to welcome the charity’s Patron in Chief, HRH The Duke of Gloucester KG KCVO, to Whitefoord House, on 26 February.
His Royal Highness was in Edinburgh to undertake a series of engagements, including a visit to Scotland’s National War Memorial, and took the opportunity to visit Whitefoord House, the Edinburgh residence of SVR.
He was shown round the residence by SVR Vice Chair Richard Edlmann, chatted with many of the Veterans the charity supports, and met the staff team, headed by Chief Executive Martin Nadin, as well as Governing Body members John Cooper and Ricky Bhabutta. His Royal Highness was accompanied by the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, Councillor Robert Aldridge.
The Duke took great interest in SVR’s work, and also a selection of items from the SVR archive, including photographs and press cuttings of previous Royal visits made to Whitefoord House by his father, Prince Henry, and mother, Princess Alice, both of whom were steadfast supporters of the charity for many years.
It was a great pleasure to host the visit, and we sincerely thank His Royal Highness for his patronage of SVR.
