Youth and Philanthropy Initiative leads to further voluntary service

19 May 2011

Spring 2011 saw a group of pupils from George Heriots School meeting with Susie Hamilton to learn about the service provided at the Scottish Veterans Residences. One of the pupils, Louise Frame, has returned to SVR to complete her three months voluntary service for her Duke of Edinburgh award, hoping to raise awarness of the charity through their social networking. Introduced to the Scottish Veterans Residences through a project called the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, Louise and three friends (Jack Waters, Kirsty Watt & Hillary Clydesdale) competed against seven other teams from their year group, winning the competition and receiving a cheque for three thousand pounds for the Scottish Veterans Residences.  Louise will be volunteering with SVR for 3 months, assisting with Facebook, Twitter and other communications.
