How SVR Helps Veterans

SVR provides regulated housing support services delivered in a friendly community environment to help Veterans to achieve the best outcome for them as individuals.  In 2018 we provided 287 hours of counselling from registered practioners and assisted residents with 205 benefits claims and 24 AFCS/ War Pension claims.  Of the 240 residents we helped in 2018, 66 were supprted to move on to their own tenancy or another appropriate housing provider.

15 Veterans did some form of volunteering and 131 residents took up an activity, sport or hobby while staying at one of our Residences.

The activities on offer include art groups' yoga, cycling, gardening, barbeques,  games nights and quizzes arranged by volunteers, outdoor weeks in the Highlands (including climbing, kayaking and mountain biking), visits to places of interest and visits by other organisations and groups to our Residences.

34 residents undertook training or education and 22 gained employment.  Employment support is provided by an Employment Mentor provided by our partners RFEA and Walking With The Wounded.
