Golden night for SVR at Scottish Veterans Awards

It was a great honour for Scottish Veterans Residences (SVR) to be named winners of the Health and Wellbeing Award at the prestigious 2026 Scottish Veterans Awards.
The category, sponsored by the mental health-focused social enterprise Be-inn Unity, is one the charity was really proud to have been short-listed for, and it was a thrill to be considered worthy of first prize by the judging panel.
The award recognises the work of our Activities Team (Darren Morgan, James Moncur and now James Williams), specialist Occupational Therapist Janet Harkess and her OT placement students from Queen Margaret University and Glasgow Caledonian University, and the skilled external counsellors who work across the three SVR sites. Janet accepted the prize on behalf of SVR.

Police Scotland were very deserving winners of the Employer of the Year category, for which SVR were also short-listed. Congratulations to all the other winners and finalists on what was a night to celebrate the spirit and achievements of the Veterans and Armed Forces community.
Our sincere thanks to the staff and team at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh for their hospitality and lovely meal, Mark McKenzie of BFBS Scotland for hosting, and all the sponsors for supporting a wonderful event.
