Walk Of Britain31 Aug 2015
SVR residents and staff were honoured to be able to accompany the inspiring Walk Of Britain team on two days as they set off from our Bellrock Close site in Glasgow then arrived at WHitefoord House in Edinburgh the following day.
The Walk of Britain is Walking With The Wounded’s expedition supported by Prince Harry featuring six wounded veterans walking over 1,000 miles over 72 days through mainland UK.
The Walk, which started in Scotland on 22 August at the Glenfiddich distillery in Banffshire and finishes at Buckingham Palace on 1 November, is highlighting the extraordinary determination of wounded armed forces personnel. The event will also raise awareness of the work of the charity Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) in helping support people who have been injured during military service through long term employment opportunities.
WWTW fund an employment mentor who helps SVR residents in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee get ready for work and find employment.
