HMS Caledonia Runner Braves the Heat for SVR

HMS Caledonia-based CPO Frazer ‘Joe’ Munro proudly presents a cheque for £310 to Susie Hamilton, the Fundraising Manager for the Scottish Veteran’s Residences, having recently completed the Edinburgh Marathon.

CPO Munro, a member of Carnegie Harriers and no stranger to HMS Caledonia’s refurbished running track, commented, “ I enjoyed the marathon but the heat made it a little bit harder than I had anticipated, but I was still pleased with my time of under 4 hours.More importantly I’m proud to have raised £310 for such a worthwhile cause.”

The Commanding Officer of HMS Caledonia remarked, "CPO Munro is our best runner and has done really well not only to achieve a decent time in difficult circumstances, but to extract over £300 from the small crowd at HMS Caledonia. The Scottish Veterans’ Residences charity do a great job at Whitefoord House in Edinburgh providing unrivalled accommodation, care and compassion for ex-Service men and women.I look forward to seeing the charity at next year’s Caledonia Summer Fair and hope that we can give them a wee boost".
